The Polish international athletics-team in Prague (1928).  Jozef Korolkiewicz is first from the right. In centre - Halina Konopacka (olympic gold 1928 and world records in discus throw). Janusz Kusocinski, Polish athletics hero and World War II martyr, is sitting third from the left. Kusocinski, who won the olympic gold medal (10 000 metres) in 1932 and had the 3000 metres world record, was a friend of Barbara and Jozef. Jozef Korolkiewicz wrote and illustrated a humoristic, but true, story about the two gentelmens’(Janusz and Jozef) “fight” to become soldiers of  the Polish Army and defend Warsaw in 1939. The two skilled soldiers had never passed the formal military service.
