Jozef Korolkiewicz was sometimes
himself a model to body-studies for his future paintings.
This photograph helped him
to paint a picture titled “The boxers”. J.K. was awarded for this
oil painting the 2-nd prize in the Pre-olympic (Los Angeles 1932) Art Contest
in Warsaw.
Jozef Korolkiewicz’s body
can be seen at the front of the present Warsaw’s Opera House, where
statues of Stanislaw Moniuszko and Wojciech Boguslawski are placed.
J.K. sat a model to the
-“father of Polish opera and ballet art”- Boguslawski’s sculpture (and
sang Moniuszko’s operas and songs). J.K. also sat a model for some
works of Wojciech Kossak.
